Klaus now accepts Euro(€), US-$ and Pound Sterling (£) payments via PayPal !
PayPal logo

European customers, please note that the EU has passed a law that forces banks to process certain money transfers in the EU for the same rate as domestic transfers. This is still not adapted into national law by all countries, but should soon be.

Give your bank a new chance, ask them for their rates for "SEPA" (Single €uro Payments Area), and me for my bank account details (BIC and IBAN). This might be cheaper than PayPal!

You can now buy items from my swap and sales list, and use your PayPal account to settle the bill. I still prefer EURO cash, but even inside Europe, this alternative may be cheaper, safer and faster than international transfers or cash exchanges.

PayPal is a very widely accepted service, and is now part of ebay. Look them up at http://www.paypal.com

From your own PayPal account

bullet

you can pay in Euro (€) (preferred), US$ or UK£, my PayPal address is klaus@caby.de

bullet

GOOD NEWS: you no longer have to have a positive balance on your PayPal account to send me money, you can set PayPal now to directly charge your credit card or bank account.

bullet

BAD NEWS: PayPal now charges me a fee for incoming payments.

bullet

Deals will usually be agreed on in Euros, and I expect you to pay all open and hidden PayPal fees

bullet

I have a "Private" PayPal account, and these are the fees PayPal deducts from my incoming payments:

   Germany  1,9% + 0,35 Euro
   Euro countries  3,4% + 0,35 Euro
non-Euro countries  3,9% + 0,35 Euro (8% if charged in US$ or UKP, see below)

bullet

"Hidden" PayPal fees are in the conversion factors that PayPal uses when I move money between my three balances, or withdraw it to my home bank account. PayPal's rates are about 3.5% less than the interbank exchange rates published daily, e.g. on  http://www.xe.com/ucc/ .

bullet

To avoid complicated penny-pinching, I will use  http://www.xe.com/ucc/ to convert Euros to Dollars or Pounds and just add a flat 8%. Do the math, this is surprisingly accurate!
